Meet Mrs CRUX

Hi, my name is Rebecca and I am the owner of CRUX Fitness.

I started CRUX Fitness to try and push the benefits that exercise has on our mental health and to try and change our perspective of exercise along with creating an unstoppable and empowering community.

Everyone has their fair share of trials and tribulations in life. Nobody has it easy, however, I want to use my story as inspiration.

When I was 6 months pregnant (2014) my partner died unexpectedly just 2 weeks before we were due to move in together. Might I add I was also in my final year at university studying Interior Design. Despite this I still moved into what would have been our home and finished my degree whilst raising a new born. Luckily I had the most amazing support network around me and I made exercise a priority as it helped with my depression (no surprises there).

I then got into another relationship, had my 2nd child, got my level 2 fitness instructor qualification and started my level 3 to become a PT whilst working part time, so I could show others how exercise could be used as a tool to help benefit our mental health as it had done for me.

I thought I had everything I'd ever wanted however I was surprised to be diagnosed with depression again, I was prescribed SSR's and referred to counselling. It was there that I discovered I was in an abuse relationship. I managed to escape and start the next chapter of my life but it wasn't easy. I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and PTSD which has lead to a long list of other physical side effects. However, all this did was drive me to want to help others more, particularly my 2 daughters.

I educated myself on mental health, domestic abuse and the links between the mind and body through 1:1 counselling, group therapy, books, courses and listening to other people's stories.

I am living proof that we can control our own destinies. We can't control other people or actions but we can control ourselves, our thoughts and behaviours.

I want us all to be able to live longer, happier and healthier and I want to play a part in ensuring we can all be able to do so. I have managed to create a safe space for women to be able to workout safely within the most empowering and supportive community.

If you'd like to know more or if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me as it is my mission to help you.
